Help Island Animals in Honor of Betty Eavis
My grandmother, Betty Eavis, always had a great love for animals.
When I was just a young girl, I visited my Grandma Betty in Kona. One day we were driving home when I noticed a little kitten in the middle of a two lane highway. Being a gal who loved animals as much as I did, Grandma Betty encouraged me to hop out and go rescue the poor thing. The kitten was badly injured. We took her to the local vet and to get help.
On that same trip to the island, Grandma Betty and I nursed a squished gecko back to health! He survived... for about 3 days. I wrote a story in tribute to Jack (the gecko) and buried him in the yard of her cottage.
I always knew that I was lucky to have Betty as a grandmother. It wasn't until I had children of my own, who she loved just as much (if not more!) than me, that i realized just the kind of woman she was.
My grandmother showed an immeasurable amount of love to everyone and everything she came across, down to the very last day. She never said a mean word about anyone and always corrected my words when I did. She showed undying devotion to her children, sisters, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. We all feel so fortunate to have had her company for all these years.
Please help us raise funds for animals in need on the island to honor my loving and giving grandmother, Betty Jean Eavis.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Hawaii Island Humane Society.
